Atlanta, Ga. - The Georgia State men's tennis team (8-5) had numerous rain delays trying to get the match in but rain forced the Panthers to cancel against visiting Gardner-Webb (4-8) on Saturday afternoon. Georgia State returns to action on Tuesday against Lipscomb at 1 p.m. at Piedmont Park.
The Panthers lost the doubles point losing two of the three matches with the only victory coming from the team of Trenton Spinks/Lucas Santana.
Freshman Victor Valente won the first set in singles play, 6-0, against Andrew Veeder but could not complete the second set due to the rain. Sophomore Jackson Moore was tied 4-4 in the first set playing at No. 1 singles against Evgeny Slesarev. None of the singles matches were able to be completed when the match was canceled.
Georgia State will host two atlantic sun foes this coming week in Lipscomb and Mercer. The Panthers are hoping to receive a big boost when sophomore Calvin Kemp returns to the lineup this Wednesday against Mercer.
