Georgia State tennis standout Victor Valente was named Thursday to the Capital One Academic All-District team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). A member of the Men's At-Large team, Valente is now eligible for the Capital One Academic All-America team.
The junior from Sao Paulo, Brazil maintains a 4.1 grade point average while majoring in computer information systems.
Playing No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Panthers, Valente is a three-time All-Colonial Athletic Association selection in singles and a two-time choice in doubles. This spring he compiled a 16-5 record in singles and a 14-7 mark in doubles.
In dual matches the last three years, Valente has earned 51 singles wins and 40 doubles victories while leading the Panthers to a 56-17 record.
Valente is one of a school-record 11 Georgia State student-athletes in eight sports who have earned Academic All-District honors in 2011-12, including two who went on to be named to the Capital One Academic All-America team:
