ATLANTA – With eight members of the Georgia State men's golf team earning academic honors, the Panthers finished the fall with a 3.52 GPA to lead all male sports and finish fourth among all teams.
Junior Nathan Mallonee and sophomore Max Herrmann once again earned President's List honors for a GPA of 4.0 or higher.
Senior J.J. Grey, sophomores Alexander Herrmann and Sean Murphy, along with freshman Sam Asbury all earned Deans List honors for a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Freshmen Nick Budd and Nathan Williams rounded out the group by earning A.D. Honor Roll with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
As a department, Georgia State student-athletes once again attained higher than a 3.0 semester GPA, with a 3.16 cumulative GPA. The Women's Golf team ranked highest amongst women's teams, with a 3.79 team GPA. A total of 206 student-athletes earned academic accolades (President's List - 4.0 GPA or higher (44 SA's), Dean's List - 3.5 GPA or higher (70 SA's), and AD Honor Roll - 3.0 GPA or higher (92 SA's) within the Fall '15 academic term.
Georgia State finished the fall with four-straight top five finishes, including a win at the Cabo del Sol Intercollegiate.
“I can now honestly say that we had a great fall semester,” head coach Joe Inman said. “We knew we played some great golf that gave us a lot of momentum heading into the spring, but it is of equal if not of more importance to have a great semester in the classroom. We did that and I know it will continue over into the spring semester.”
Georgia State will return to the course Feb. 22-23 for the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate hosted by Sun Belt conference foe South Alabama in Mobile, Ala.
