What you need to know:

*The men's tennis team opens their spring schedule at the University of Alabama on Jan. 16 at 6 p.m.

*The team will have their first home match against Furman on Jan. 17 at 5 p.m.

*This will be the first of seven home matches for the Panthers.

 ATLANTA- After competing in six tournaments this fall, men's tennis heads to Tuscaloosa, Ala. to open dual play on Jan. 16. The Panthers host Furman on Jan. 17 at Lifetime Fitness in Norcross, Ga. for the first of seven home matches.

The team competed well during the fall season, with players advancing far in their tournament brackets in both singles and doubles matches. In the opener at Georgia, Felipe Jaworski won his bracket in singles play while Jack MacFarlane made it to the semifinals of his flight before dropping the match against Clemson.

At the Georgia Tech Fall Invite, Jannis Koeke and Giles Hussey as well as Chinmay Handa and Valtin Horvat won their doubles brackets. Andrei Andrukhou played for the singles title of his bracket, but fell to UNCW. Koeke, Jaworski and Joseph Bishop all made it to the semifinals round of their brackets before being defeated.

Three Panthers made a good run in the Mercer Gridiron Classic in Macon, Ga., with freshmen MacFarlane and Hussey both advancing to the finals of their singles brackets and Adrukhou advancing to the semifinals. Hussey and MacFarlane were paired together for doubles, advancing twice in their flight before being knocked off by Mercer.

Men's tennis looks to build on their fall competitions, opening the spring schedule against the University of Alabama at 6 p.m. This will be the only SEC team the Panthers will face in the spring.
