Kennedy is GSU Student-Athlete of the Week

Zackery Kennedy, who led the Georgia State men's tennis team to a win over in-state foe Mercer, is the Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week, powered by the U.S. Marines.

In his first match of the spring season, Kennedy was the only player to win in both his singles match and doubles match as the Panthers earned a 5-2 win over Mercer.

Paired with Andrei Andrukhou for doubles play, the duo defeated Mercer's Sam Philp and Ruben Vanoppen 6-3. Kennedy and Andrukhou were the only pair to win their doubles match.

In the No. 2 singles match, Kennedy earned the first point for Georgia State by defeating Arnav Mohanty 6-3, 6-1.

The men's tennis will be back on the court when they host Lipscomb on Feb. 6 at Lifetime Fitness in Norcross, Ga. The match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
