Men's Tennis Looks to Go 3-1 This Weekend

What you need to know:

*The men's tennis team plays Lipscomb in their third straight home game of the season.

*The team is currently 2-1, after two 5-2 wins over Mercer and Furman.

*The team will have a four-game road match strech following this weekend.


ATLANTA- The Georgia State men's tennis team heads into the weekend against Lipscomb on a two-game win streak, following a 5-2 win over Mercer at Piedmont Park on Jan. 30.

The Panthers made a strong showing with Zackery Kennedy winning the No. 2 singles match and the No. 2 doubles match with Andrei Andrukhou. The team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win the last five singles matches and the game.

Jannis Koeke scored the tying point, defeating Sam Philp 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 1 singles match. Felipe Jaworski had the game clinching point with a 6-3, 7-6 win over Arsav Mohanty, putting GSU up 4-2. Jack MacFarlane came away with the final point for the Panthers, earning a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 win over Anderson Scarpa.

Lipscomb comes to Georgia State with a 0-2 record. The Bisons opened the season with a 4-0 loss at Vanderbilt before falling 4-3 against Tennessee Tech.
