Saturday Is Special Cancer Awareness Day Events

SATURDAY IS ANNUAL CANCER AWARENESS DAY

Saturday's noon basketball game will be the annual cancer awareness Play 4Kay pink day game. The Play 4Kay initiative has been uniting the nation for the past eight years to support women's cancer research.

Obviously, fans are encouraged to wear pink, but Georgia State will also provide pink Georgia State t-shirts to the first 500 fans in attendance. Donations to the Play 4Kay Kay Yow Cancer Fund will be accepted and a special raffle will be ongoing in the front lobby. Up for the highest bid are items like the rare Ron Hunter NCAA stool bobble head, a Pounce the Mascot bobble head, a Nike Dri-Fit workout shirt, a Georgia State basketball jacket, a Sun Belt Conference Duffle bag, as well as a package with two courtside seats for the Saturday, Feb. 27 basketball doubleheader.

Zeta Tau Alpha sorority's Delta Lambda chapter at GSU will be distributing pink ribbons for fans to wear and will have their own bake sale for charity.

On the court, Georgia State's challenge will be one of the hottest basketball teams in the country in Arkansas State. ASU is unbeaten in the Sun Belt (14-0) and 20-3 overall with a No. 44 RPI rating.

At halftime of the women's game, GSU will recognize all the first semester academic honor students.

Between the men's and women's games, the football Cure Bowl team will be recognized.

This game is also Spirit Day for GSU's cheer and dance teams to work with youth squads. The championship-winning GSU cheer team will perform at halftime of the men's game.

This Saturday will be GSU's next-to-last home game with the final Senior Day contest on Saturday, Feb. 27.
