ATLANTA, Ga. – Seniors Jansen Button and Sara Olivova of Georgia State's eighth-ranked beach volleyball team were named to the inaugural Coastal Collegiate Sports Association preseason all-conference team, the CCSA announced Wednesday.
With a career record of 58-40, the winningest duo in the program's three-year history earned All-America status in 2015 after advancing to the semifinals at the AVCA Pairs Championships. Button and Olivova went 24-14 last season, primarily playing in the top three spots of the lineup.
It was their win that clinched GSU's highest-ranked victory over No. 4 Florida State last March. The duo closed out GSU's 18-3 season with an 11-3 tally in the final 14 contests.
Fellow senior Kate Rawls was named to the watch list after a 25-11 record in 2015. She played at the top three flights with multiple partners, including an undefeated run with Nina Interwies at the No. 2 spot in dual play.
Georgia State's first competition of the season is March 5 at the FAU Invitational in Boca Raton, Fla. The Panthers' first of two home events is March 9 as Mercer visits the GSU Sand Courts. Admission is free to the public.
