MOBILE, ALA. - Lightning and rain interrupted the South Alabama Jaguar Classic Friday about midway through the meet.GSU had competed in four field events and four running events at that point on the wet and soggy day.
Georgia State had three first-place finishes in those eight events, three second-place showings and three third-place efforts.
Stephanie Berger won the 1,500m run with a time of 4:38.90, with teammates Nuria Ramirez in third and Lindsay Shealey in fourth.
Danielle Livingstone and Katherine Randolph had a 1-2 finish in the long jump with Livingstone's 5.39m distance winning.
Consistent leaders LaPorscha Wells and Alysiah Whittaker went 1-2 in the shot put with distances of 15.39m and 15.19m.
Jasmyne Robinson and Sydney Davis were 2-3 in the 400m run with times of 57.54 and 57.77.
Allyson Goff had a third-place finish of the 13 100m hurdlers in 14.53.
Kelsey Gray had a fourth-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 35.84m, which is the second-longest in school history.
GSU's usual winning 4x100m relay team had a disqualification in its running.
Six running events were not able to be held (100, 200, 400m hurdles, 800, 4x400 relay and 3,000m run). Two field events were not contested (discus and high jump).
The event was culminating GSU's Spring Break week of work along along the Gulf Coast, so the team got some needed preparation and work during the trip.
The Panthers will return to classes on Monday and compete this weekend in the Yellow Jacket Invitational at Georgia Tech.
