What you need to know:
* No. 8 Georgia State (15-2) travels to Miami Beach, Fla. this weekend to play four matches at the FIU Surf & Turf, including two against ranked teams.
* The Panthers have won seven straight and will face South Carolina, No. 2 USC, FAU and No. 10 FIU on Friday and Saturday.
* The Panthers are 2-1 this season against top-10 opponents.
ATLANTA – Georgia State looks to extend its seven-game win streak this weekend as the No. 8 Panthers compete at the fourth annual FIU Surf & Turf Tournament in Miami Beach, Fla. GSU will face South Carolina and No. 2 USC on Friday and FAU and No. 10 FIU on Saturday.
Georgia State is 15-2 (2-1 CCSA) this season after a midweek win at Mercer on Tuesday, but faces a tough road this weekend. Up first for the Panthers is a 9 a.m. match versus South Carolina (13-5). The Panthers and Gamecocks have met three times with GSU winning each contest. Georgia State will faceoff with defending champion USC (11-2) at noon. The Women of Troy have also won seven straight and Friday's match will be the first meeting between the two schools.
Saturday brings two more quality opponents in FAU and No. 10 FIU. FAU (7-7, 1-2 CCSA) handed GSU its first loss of the season back during the opening weekend. The Owls and Panthers are scheduled for a noon start time. For the final match of the Surf & Turf, Georgia State and FIU (4-7, 1-3 CCSA) will play at 4 p.m. in a meeting between two top-10 ranked teams in the CCSA. GSU got the best of FIU with a 4-1 win earlier this season in Baton Rouge.
Georgia State is led by No. 1 pair Sara Olivova and Jansen Button who own a 16-1 record this season. Kate Rawls and Nina Interwies have split time in the No. 1 and 2 flights and are 12-4 on the year. Milani Pickering and Delaney Rohan have also been impressive this season, tallying 15 wins to just one loss.
