ATLANTA- The No. 53 Georgia State men's tennis team will face rival Georgia Southern and UNCW in the final weekend of the regular season, playing in Statesboro, Ga. on April 15 at 3 p.m. and Piedmont Park on April 17 at 9 a.m. for senior day.
The Panthers are currently on a seven-game win-streak and 16-4 overall (3-0 Sun Belt).
Georgia State is performing solidly in singles play, with only two singles losses in the past four matches. The team is led behind juniors Zackery Kennedy and Felipe Jaworski, who are both 6-0 in their last matches. Jaworski had the match-clinching point against Sun Belt opponent Troy.
The trip to Georgia Southern marks the end of road matches for the Panthers, and then next installment in the Georgia State-Georgia Southern rivalry series. The Panthers currently have an 8-4 advantage over the Eagles.
GSU will face a 15-5 (1-0 Sun Belt) Georgia Southern, with the team on a six-game win-streak. The last loss for the Eagles came against UNGC in March, and they will face Appalachian State following the match against Georgia State.
For senior day, the Panthers will face UNCW at Piedmont Park for Joseph Bishop and Chinmay Handa's last match at home. The Seahawks are 9-8 this season and on a two-game losing streak.
