
ATLANTA – Catcher Ivie Drake hit .438 this week with two home runs, eight runs scored and nine RBI, earning this week's Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week award, powered by the U.S. Marines.
The sophomore from Carlton, Ga., helped fuel a five-game win streak for the Panthers this week. Drake went 7-for-16 and reached base in all five games thanks to six walks in the five wins.
Drake's best performance came in Game 1 against Appalachian State Saturday. The catcher went 3-for-4 with 5 RBI on a grand slam and two doubles. The grand slam was her 33rd career home run, good for second on GSU's career list.
Drake added three more RBI in Game 2 thanks to a second home run, her 12th of the season. She finished the week with 9 RBI and 8 runs scored.
Drake leads the team in hitting (.372), slugging (.715), on-base percentage (.508), runs scored (43), home runs (12) and walks (38).
