ATLANTA -- Georgia State football standout Keith Rucker has been chosen to represent the Sun Belt Conference on the NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
The Division I SAAC is comprised of one representative from each Division I conference. Its mission is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by protecting student- athlete well-being, fostering a positive student-athlete image and inclusive student-athlete environment, and promoting student-athlete engagement at the national, conference and local levels.
Rucker will begin his term July 1.
The rising senior tight end earned second-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors in 2015, when he caught 39 passes for 522 yards and six touchdowns to help Georgia State earn its first bowl berth in the AutoNation Cure Bowl.
Rucker has served the last two years on Georgia State's SAAC and was elected President for 2016-17. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native is majoring in speech.
"I'm honored to be chosen to represent all the student-athletes in the Sun Belt," Rucker said. "To serve on a national committee will also build my leadership abilities, and I hope to be able to bring things back to Georgia State to help our program continue to grow."
Brad Horton, Georgia State's Associate AD for Student-Athlete Development, added, "Keith has been instrumental in the success of our SAAC programming on the Georgia State campus and in the Atlanta community.
"For Keith to stand out from such an impressive group is something for which he and our entire university can be very proud. We are all excited about this endeavor and the impact he can make within the NCAA Division I Governance Structure."
