ATLANTA -- The Georgia State baseball, softball, men's golf, women's golf and men's tennis programs earned Sun Belt Conference Team Academic Awards, signifying the league's highest team grade-point average for their respective sports in the 2015-16 academic year.

Georgia State's five team awards are more than any other Sun Belt Conference institution. Troy garnered four awards, but no other school collected more than two.

The women's golf team led the way for the Panthers with a 3.73 GPA that ranked as the third highest among all sports in the Sun Belt. The Panther softball program finished the year with a 3.57 GPA, with men's golf at 3.52, men's soccer at 3.50 and baseball at 3.27.

Additionally, the Georgia State women's cross country team was second among Sun Belt cross country programs, while the football, men's soccer and women's track teams ranked third in their sports.

This announcement adds to an already stellar year in the classroom by Panther student-athletes, who combined for an all-time high grade-point average of 3.18 for the spring semester, following a 3.16 for the fall. A record three individuals were named as CoSIDA Academic All-Americans in 2015-16.

Georgia State also earned the Sun Belt's 2016 Institutional Graduation Award, which goes to the university that had the highest percentage of student-athletes graduate based on the most recent Federal Graduation Report.
