Panthers Fight To 1-1 Draw In Final Exhbition

 ATLANTA- The Georgia State women's soccer team fought to a 1-1 draw in its final exhibition match of the season against Austin Peay. Freshman Erin Rhodes scored the tying goal for the Panthers, her first career goal.

GSU controlled the ball for the majority of the first half, holding the Governors to just three shots. Austin Peay had eight total shots while Georgia State had 11.

Austin Peay scored first, with McKenzie Dixon earning a goal in the 39th minute. The Panthers responded quickly, with Rhodes scoring in the 41st minute. Monique Hundley had the assist off a corner kick.

“It was good to get another 90 minutes in under our belts,” head coach Ed Joyce said. “It's always great to see a freshman with a goal, and Erin really earned it. We learned some things about the team tonight and we're looking forward to Friday's regular season opener.”

The Panthers will host Alabama State on Friday for their regular season opener. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Admission to the GSU Soccer Complex is free.
