ATLANTA- The Georgia State women's soccer team opens its regular season on Friday against Alabama State in Panthersville at 7 p.m. The team has played two exhibition matches this season, earning a 1-0 win over Lipscomb and a 1-1 tie with Austin Peay.
Freshman Erin Rhodes and junior Skylar Olson have both scored for the Panthers in exhibition play, with Olson scoring the game-winner against Lipscomb. These were the first career goals at GSU for both student-athletes.
The team has been able to maintain control of the ball, outshooting Austin Peay 8-11 and holding the Governors to just three shots in the first half.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and live stats will be available at GeorgiaStateSports.com. Admission to the GSU Soccer Complex is free. Following the match, there will be an alumni meet and greet for former players to meet the current squad and coaching staff.
