ATLANTA- Following a 3-0 victory over Alabama State in the regular season opener on Friday, the Georgia State women's soccer team will travel to cross-town foe Kennesaw State on Monday for its first road match of the season.
The team played great defense in the opener, holding the Hornets to just five shots in the game. The Panthers had great offensive momentum, making 22 shots. Senior Callie O'Connor led the offense with six shots and the second goal of the game.
Alexis Thomas had the game-winner for GSU, while freshman Brooke Shank earned her first career goal with less than five minutes to play.
This will be the home opener for the Owls, who played at Chattanooga on Friday. The team walked away with a 1-0 win after a goal by Shannon Driscoll in the 13th minute of play.
