OXFORD, Ala. – Freshman Angela Alonso's fourth-place finish and junior Nuria Ramirez' ninth-place finish helped guide the Panthers to second place overall at the season-opening JSU Struts Invitational 4k in Oxford, Ala.
Georgia State competed in the Red Division along with seven other Division-I schools. Auburn took home first place at the meet, but the Panthers had four runners end up in the top-20 to finish second. In her first meet as a Panther, Alonso ran the 4k in 14:35.9 to place fourth overall out of 160 runners.
Ramirez registered a time of 14:48.6, good for ninth, and fellow junior Jordan Townsley finished 11th with a time of 14:57.8. Rounding out the top-20 was senior Sammi Donovan who ran the event in 15:13.5.
Next up for the Panthers is a visit to Grand Prairie, Texas to run the Gerald Richey Invitational hosted by Sun Belt-foe UT Arlington.
