ATLANTA – With a short turnaround from the first tournament of the year, the Georgia State women's golf team will return to the course for the USA Intercollegiate beginning Saturday at the Magnolia Grove Crossings Course in Mobile, Ala.
The Panthers are coming off a tie for seventh at the Louisville Fall Kickoff on Tuesday in which freshman Harmanprit Kaur, making her collegiate debut, finished tied for fifth in a field that included Georgia, Auburn, Vanderbilt and Louisville.
“We are excited to get back on the course,” head coach Cathy Mant said. “A lot of really good things came out of the first event and hopefully we can use those to build on this weekend. This is a really good event at a very nice course and I think will serve as a good challenge for our team.”
The 10-team field will start off Holes No. 1 and No. 10 on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. ET. The teams will follow the same format on Sunday before teeing off at 9 a.m. ET on Monday.
The field includes host South Alabama, UAB, Alabama State, Eastern Kentucky, Florida Gulf Coast, McNeese State, Samford, Southern Miss and Stephen F. Austin.
Kaur will lead the line-up and also include senior Jooeun Bae, junior Paula Zabarte, redshirt-sophomore Emily Royer and sophomore Jemima Gregson.
Kaur's debut included rounds of 74 and 72 as she made a pair of birdies and 30 pars over the 36-hole day.
Gregson led the Panthers last year as a freshman while Royer was among the team leaders during her freshman year before redshirting last year due to injury.
