ATLANTA- The Georgia State men's soccer team will continue Sun Belt play in Washington, D.C. against Howard on Friday afternoon.
The Panthers are looking to go .500 in league play following a loss to Georgia Southern Saturday night. The team is 7-6 heading onto the weekend.
Sophomore Hannes Burmeister scored the lone GSU goal in the 3-1 loss to the Eagles, improving his goal total to eight this year. Max Hemmings ranks second in goals behind Burmeister, scoring five times and taking a team high 27 shots.
Junior Rashid Alarape leads the team in assists, creating chances for the Panthers to get in the net four times. Liam Fitzsimmons and Burmeister are tied for second with three assists each.
Howard enters the match at 1-11-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play after a 2-0 loss at Appalachian State in the conference opener. The team is currently on a three-game losing streak, while its only win this season came in the home opener against Virginia Military Institute.
