Panthers Continue Strong Play in GSU Invite

What you need to know:

* The Georgia State women's tennis team continued its play in the GSU Invite Saturday. The team took on Middle Tennessee State and Furman in doubles as well as Oregon in singles.

* Damira Muminovic and Kristin Rehse grabbed a victory over MTSU's duo of Sarah Sediri and Maria Zehnder. Anastasia Grosheva and Lara Vovk defeated Furman's Karlee Bryde and Gabby Rodriguez in the second set of matches.

* The Panthers will rest up and get ready to take on MTSU in singles to conclude the 2016 GSU Invite out in Clarkston and their fall season.


CLARKSTON, Ga. – Georgia State women's tennis continued its strong play on day two of the GSU Invite out in Clarkston, Ga.

Freshman Damira Muminovic and junior Kristin Rehse earned another win in the Invite against Middle Tennessee State's Sarah Sediri and Maria Zehnder 6-2.

In the second set of matches, Lara Vovk and Anastasia Grosheva picked up a victory over Furman's Karlee Bryde and Gabby Rodriguez by a final of 6-1. The two doubles victories were the Panthers' bright spots on the day.

In singles, Muminovic swept Oregon's Shweta Sangwan by a final of 6-4, 6-4 to hand the Ducks their only loss of the tournament thus far. Oregon achieved a record of 11-1 in its Saturday matches.

The Panthers will rest up and prepare for the final day of the GSU Invite. GSU will play MTSU in singles to conclude the Georgia State Invite and its fall season.
