ATLANTA – Traveling to Hawai'i for just the second time in program history, the Georgia State men's golf team will look to finish the fall strong at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic in Maui beginning on Friday.

It will conclude a busy week and fall season for the Panthers. On Monday, sophomore Nick Budd won the UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate as the Panthers finished ninth. Budd shot three rounds in the 60s, making six birdies in each round.

Georgia State last traveled to Hawai'i in 2009 for the Turtle Bay Resort Invitational on the North Shore finishing sixth.

This year, a 24-team field will play 54 holes Friday through Sunday with a shotgun start at 2:30 p.m. ET/8:30 a.m. HT each day.

“This is going to be a great way to conclude the fall season,” head coach Joe Inman said. “Any time you have a chance to go to Hawai'i it is special, but this year, we also get to play in a great event on an incredible golf course.”

The 24-team field includes Ball State, Boise State, Bowling Green, Cal State Fullerton, Clemson, CSUN, Georgia, Gonzaga, Hawai'i, Hawai'i-Hilo, Houston, Kansas, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, LSU, Minnesota, UNC Wilmington, North Florida, Oklahoma, Sacramento State, South Carolina, UTSA and UC Santa Barbara.

Along with Budd, the Georgia State line-up will include senior Nathan Mallonee, juniors Alexander Herrmann and Max Herrmann, along with freshman Egill Gunnarrson.

Budd is currently second on the team with a 71.50 scoring average, including five rounds in the 60s this fall. His 12-under, 204 total in Greensboro was tied for the fifth-lowest three-round tournament score in program history.

Alex Herrmann currently leads the Panthers with a 71.25 scoring average, including six rounds under par this fall.

Following the event, Georgia State will return to action in the spring, Feb. 20-21, at the Mobile Intercollegiate hosted by Sun Belt foe South Alabama.
