ATLANTA - Georgia State football's Alonzo McGee is this week’s GSU Student-Athlete of the Week, powered by the U.S. Marines.
The senior linebacker led Georgia State with 10 tackles (seven solo), a tackle for loss and a fumble recovery in the Panthers' 30-24 win over in-state rival Georgia Southern.
McGee's fumble recovery came in the third quarter and gave the Panthers possession at the Georgia Southern 39-yard line, setting up a field goal that gave Georgia State a 30-17 lead.
With Georgia State holding a 20-14 lead in the second quarter, McGee tackled L.A. Ramsby for a 7-yard loss on 3rd-and-4, forcing a punt.
Despite playing through a knee injury, McGee is the Panthers top tackler on the season with 90, along with four tackles for loss, two sacks, two fumble recoveries, one caused fumble and one pass breakup.
McGee and the Panthers will rest up during the team's bye week. GSU meets Idaho on Dec. 3rd to conclude the 2016 season.
