ATLANTA -- Leading baseball to a 2-0 start to the season, senior Ryan Blanton is this week's Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week, powered by the U.S. Marines.

Blanton got the Panthers off to a perfect start with three hits, a homer and five RBIs in wins over Marshall and Western Michigan.

Blanton led off the Marshall game and the 2017 season with a home run, the fifth time in his career he has led off a game with a homer. He added an RBI-single in the Panthers' four-run eighth inning that broke the game open, sending Georgia State to an 8-3 Opening Day victory.

In Saturday's win, Blanton delivered a two-run single in the fourth inning to put GSU ahead 5-1 and then provided a key insurance run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth. The Panthers went on win 6-4 over Western Michigan.

Blanton hit .375 for the weekend with two stolen bases and two runs scored.

Blanton and the Panthers return to action Monday afternoon, hosting BYU at 3:45 p.m. in the final game of the Atlanta Challenge.
