Game 1: Omaha 3, Georgia State 1
Megan Litumbe's first of two home runs on Saturday was the lone run for the Panthers in the first game of the day. Litumbe and Remington Hasty each went 2-for-3 at the plate for GSU.
In the circle, freshman Peyton Worsham had a strong outing in relief. Worsham threw five innings and held the Mavericks scoreless while giving up two hits and striking out two. Mandy Chance got the start and was credited with the loss, her first of the season after getting wins in her first three decisions.
Game 2: Georgia State 12, Omaha 4 (6 innings)
As they did on Friday against Illinois, Georgia State bounced back from a Game 1 defeat to run rule their opponent in Game 2. The Panthers grabbed two runs in the bottom of the first as Litumbe doubled to the gap, scoring Hasty and Ivie Drake. Georgia State and Omaha each scored a run in the second and then the Mavericks went on top 4-3 with three runs in the third. In the bottom of the third, Litumbe smacked her second home run of the day, a solo shot that tied the score at 4-4.
Georgia State's big inning was the fourth as three Maverick errors helped GSU post a five-spot on the scoreboard. With the bases loaded and two outs, Caldwell fouled off three straight pitches before blasting a grand slam over the wall in left, putting GSU on top for good.
In the bottom of the sixth, Morgan ended the game with her first career home run, putting the Panthers up by eight and invoking the run rule.
Emily Soles earned the win, pitching 3.1 innings of scoreless softball in relief.
With the split, Georgia State's record moves to 10-5 on the season. The Panthers wrap up the weekend with a game against Radford on Sunday.
