ATLANTA -- Junior Ivie Drake became Georgia State softball's all-time career home runs leader on Friday and is this week's Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week, powered by the U.S. Marines.
Drake hit her 39th career home run on Friday, moving into first place on Georgia State's career home run list. Drake's three-run homer Friday vs. Illinois moved her ahead of Callie Alford who hit her 38th career home run during the 2015 season.
While setting the new record, her home run also ended the game as it gave the Panthers the eight-run lead in the sixth inning over the Illini.
For the rest of the week, Drake was 8-of-20 (.400) at the plate with six runs scored, two doubles and six RBI. Drake did not strike out in the 20 at-bats.
Drake and the Panthers will return to action on Friday at the USF Invitational. The first game is set for 11:30 a.m. against Syracuse.
