* Georgia State capped off an undefeated weekend in Statesboro, Ga. with a 4-0 sweep of Georgia Southern Sunday afternoon.
* GSU (9-7, 2-2) rolled to its second conference victory of the season at the Eagles' Wallis Tennis Center. The Panthers won the doubles point behind victories from duos Damira Muminovic and Kristin Rehse as well as Arina Taluyenko and Tarani Kamoe. Taluyenko, Muminovic and Lara Vovk took it home for GSU with wins in singles play.
* Georgia State returns home next Wednesday for its match UAB at Piedmont Park. First serve between Panthers and Blazers is set for 1 p.m.
STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia State finished off an undefeated weekend with a 4-0 sweep of Georgia Southern Sunday to get to .500 in SBC play.
The Panthers (9-7, 2-2) used improved doubles play to topple the Troy Trojans and Georgia Southern Eagles down in Statesboro, Ga. this weekend.
GSU took the doubles point for the second time in as many days behind victories from pairs Damira Muminovic and Kristin Rehse as well as Arina Taluyenko and Tarani Kamoe. The former improved to 8-6 in doubles play and the latter combination of Taluyenko and Kamoe reached .500 on the year with their seventh win.
Taluyenko, Muminovic and Lara Vovk took care of the Eagles in straight sets as Georgia Southern falls to 9-7 and 0-2 in the Sun Belt.
Vovk's 6-3, 6-0 win against Georgia Southern's Paige Christian sealed the match for Georgia State. Taluyenko lifted her singles record to a team-leading 13-2 on the season. Muminovic improved to a winning record with her seventh singles victory.
Head coach Jason Marshall and the Panthers return home this Wednesday to take on UAB at Piedmont Park. GSU battles the Blazers starting at 1 p.m. ET. Admission is free to the public.
