STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. – Georgia State got a pair of eagles from its sophomores en route to shooting a second round 306 to remain in eighth place following two days of the 24th annual John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate at Eagle's Landing Country Club.
Redshirt-sophomore Emily Royer eagled the par 5 sixth hole to shoot a 3-over 75 and stand tied for 24th at 8-over par with one round to play. Sophomore Jemima Gregson finished her round with an eagle on the 18th hole to shoot a 5-over 77 and sit tied for 40th entering the final round.
Following an 8-over 296, Eastern Kentucky moved into first place by one stroke entering the final round. The Colonels are led by Elsa Moberly who shot a 1-under 71 on Monday and leads the 15-team field at 5-under par.
Georgia State is 40-over thru 36 holes, ahead of Sun Belt foes Appalachian State, UL Monroe and South Alabama.
“We got off to a bit of a bumpy start once again today,” head coach Cathy Mant said. “I was proud that we settled down once again and made some birdies on the back nine. I feel like if we can get off to a good start on Tuesday, it will give us a chance to move up the leaderboard a bit.”
Senior Jooeun Bae and freshman Harmanprit Kaur are tied with Gregson for 40th. Bae shot a 4-over 76 on Monday, while Kaur shot 78 as the trio sits at 11-over par thru 36 holes. Senior Solene Le Coz rounded out Georgia State's line-up with an 80 to stand tied for 49th at 14-over par.
Three Panthers are also competing as individuals this week. Junior Paula Zabarte is tied for 16th at 6-over par following a 2-over 74 on Monday. Junior Yasemin Sari shot 76 in the second round and is tied for 32nd at 9-over par. Freshman Grace Choi rounds out the group and is tied for 40th at 11-over par after shooting a second round 76.
Eastern Kentucky, which sits at 14-over par, leads No. 51 Kansas State by one stroke as the Wildcats are 15-over par. Murray State is in third at 19-over par, while Winthrop stands fourth at 23-over. Tulsa rounds out the top five at 25-over par.
Moberly holds a four-stroke lead over Tulsa's Nadia Majidizadeh who is the only other golfer under par at 1-under. Winthrop's Julie Reinertsen and Kansas State's Tash Carlsson are tied for third at 1-over par, while Eastern Kentucky's Sofie Levin rounds out the top five at 2-over par.

Following this week's tournament, Georgia State will return to action April 3-4 for the Web.com Intercollegiate in Jacksonville, Fla. It will mark the final event of the regular season for the Panthers.
