Panthers Announced as No. 1 Seed for Conference Championship

ATLANTA- The No. 37 Georgia State men's tennis team has earned the No. 1 seed in the 2017 Sun Belt Men's Tennis Championship, the league announced Tuesday.

Quarterfinal action is set to begin on Friday at 4 p.m., with the Panthers (16-6 overall) facing No. 8 seed Louisiana in the opening match. The tournament will take place over three days, with the winner being crowned on Sunday and receiving an automatic NCAA Tournament bid.

This is the second consecutive year that Georgia State has earned the top seed, falling to the eventual tournament champions UT Arlington in the semifinal round. GSU has been to the conference tournament for three of the four years it has been in the Sun Belt, winning the tournament in 2013.

The conference will host its postseason banquet Thursday night, where it will announce postseason award winners and all-conference honorees.
