Koeke Earns GSU Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

ATLANTA -- Jannis Koeke helped lead Georgia State to a Sun Belt Championship and NCAA Tournament bid Sunday to earn GSU Student-Athlete of the Week, powered by the U.S. Marines.

The senior clinched the 4-3 victory over the No. 2 seed South Alabama in the Sun Belt Championship Sunday afternoon, coming back from a 5-2 deficit in the third set to win the match. With the win, the Panthers claimed the program's first Sun Belt title and NCAA Tournament bid since 2013.

Koeke had a 3-0 weekend, with two victories coming in the third set. Playing at the No. 3 position, the Villmar, Germany native had key wins to help lead the Panthers to a conference title. His win over Vlad Kramarov of Louisiana put GSU up 3-1, as did his victory over Andy Lau of Troy in the semifinals.

Koeke has nine singles wins this season, and holds the longest win-streak on the team with four-straight wins.
