ATLANTA -- Georgia State's record-setting victory at ULM was recognized by the Sun Belt Conference as Penny Hart was named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week and Marterious Allen was named Defensive Player of the Week.
The Panthers (3-2, 2-0 Sun Belt) won 47-37 for their third straight road victory to atop the conference standings as one of three undefeated teams.
Hart, the sophomore receiver, caught 11 passes for a school-record 190 yards and three touchdowns. His performance keyed a record-setting day for the Georgia State offense, which piled up a school-record 670 yards while scoring the Panthers' most points ever against an FBS opponent.
All three of Hart's touchdown catches were highlight reel-worthy. On the Panthers' first possession, he made a spectacular one-handed, overhead catch for a 50-yard scoring play.
In the third quarter, he caught touchdowns on consecutive possessions, first a 25-yard TD on which he caught the ball around the 5-yard line and backed his way into the end zone.
On the Panthers' next possession, they faced a 1st-and-25 after a penalty, but Hart hauled in a 40-yard pass, then two plays later a 22-yard touchdown catch.
Over the last three games, Hart has 30 receptions for 463 yards and five touchdowns. He is the first Panther to record three straight 100-yard games.
For the season, the Buford, Ga., native leads the Sun Belt with 8.4 receptions and 111.0 yards per game, top 10 in FBS in both categories.
A junior defensive end, Allen tied the Georgia State single-game record with three sacks and also recovered a fumble. He led a Georgia State defense that kept the Sun Belt's hottest offense in check for most of the game, allowing the Panthers to take effectively put the game away with a 47-24 lead before ULM tacked on two late touchdowns.
Allen's three sacks were part of a school-record total of seven for the Panthers.
His fumble recovery at midfield set up a third-quarter touchdown that put GSU ahead 33-10.
The Hartwell, Ga., native totalled five tackles in the game and also had a quarterback hurry.
After four consecutive road games--including three straight wins--and 51 days away, Georgia State finally returns home this week to host Troy for Homecoming Saturday at 2 p.m. at Georgia State Stadium.
