ATLANTA- The Georgia State men's soccer team played to its first draw of the season in a 0-0 double overtime tie against Appalachian State Saturday night.

With the tie, the Panthers are now 10-4-1 (2-0-1 SBC) while the Mountaineers are now 4-6-5 (0-1-2 SBC).

Both teams split possession in the first half, with neither team gaining much ground. GSU was able to fire three shots, with Max Hemmings putting one on target.

Georgia State came out of the half looking to get on the board first, but the Panthers weren't able to convert. The team took six shots in the second half, but a save from each team forced overtime play.

GSU fired five shots in extra minutes while the Mountaineers fired just one, but the defensive effort from both teams kept the score even at 0-0.

Freshman George Proctor led the team's 14 shots with three, while three other Panthers fired two shots each.

"Honestly a draw was probably a fair result tonight," head coach Brett Surrency said. "I thought each team had spells in the game where they were on top  it's disappointing to drop conference points at home but we are still in a good place and will move on to Charlotte."

The team will return to the field Tuesday night at Charlotte in its final non-conference match of the season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., with live stats available at GeorgiaStateSports.com.
