ATLANTA- The Sun Belt Conference announced the recipients of the 1A FAR Academic Excellence Awards Thursday afternoon, with eight Panthers being tabbed to the list.

Over 50 Sun Belt graduates received the honor given to over 600 student-athletes in the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision. The award was established by the 1A Faculty Athletics Representatives to recognize student-athlete academic achievement.

Recipients of the award must have graduated in the past academic year with at least a 3.80 cumulative grade-point average and have participated in at least two years of intercollegiate athletics at an FBS institution in a sport sponsored by an FBS conference.

Georgia State had the third most student-athletes on the list in the Sun Belt, with Coastal Carolina's 12 leading the conference.
