GSU Falls to Tennessee Tech in Season Opener

ATLANTA – Georgia State women's soccer dropped a 1-0 decision to Tennessee Tech in the season opener Friday night at the GSU Soccer Complex. Despite the result, GSU finished the evening with three shots on goal while its opponent had just one.

The Panthers dominated the possession in the first 45 minutes of Friday's match, taking four shots and holding the Golden Eagles to only one. Hannah Davis and Brooke Shank each fired shots early in the first half that were saved by the TTU keeper.

Jocelyn Jones received a great pass from Davis in the 71st minute but was unable to finish for the score. Tennessee Tech later broke the tie with the game-winning goal in the 81st minute. The Panthers made a final push when Arianah Black took the potential game-tying shot in the final minute, but the shot sailed just high of the goal.

GSU and Tennessee Tech each finished with six total shots on Friday. The Panthers had four in the first half and two in the second, while the Golden Eagles had one in the first and five in the second. GSU led in corner kicks 5-3.

Georgia State returns to action at 7 p.m. Sunday for a matchup against Kennesaw State in Kennesaw, Ga. Fans can watch the game live on ESPN+, or follow along via live stats.
