- Georgia State opened the 2019 season over 4,400 miles away in Honolulu, Hawaii at the Hawaii Paradise Classic. The Panthers faced stiff competition at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium including top-ranked UCLA.
- The Panthers sit at 0-5 after the opening weekend but look to rebound back in the Peach State against crosstown rivals Georgia Tech Wednesday at Mewborn Field.
- GSU and Georgia Tech share a long history with 72 meetings all-time. The Yellow Jackets lead the series, but Georgia State has won the past three contests and six of the last eight dating back to 2014.
- Eight true freshmen made their GSU debuts in Hawaii last weekend. Three freshmen recorded their first collegiate hits as well.
- Freshman Jess Neadow made a splash in her first career game against Fresno State on Feb. 8. Neadow made a diving catch at shortstop that went viral via NCAA Softball's social media accounts. The next inning in her first at-bat as a Panther, Neadow sent a towering home run over the wall in left for her first career hit.
- Kalynn Hick's first career hit and RBI gave Georgia State a 1-0 lead over No. 1 UCLA in the first inning on Feb. 9.
- Kristin Hawkins was named to the 2019 Preseason All-Sun Belt team. A redshirt senior, Hawkins has an elite glove at the hot corner and showed increased production at the plate in 2018. Hawkins hit .308 in Sun Belt play.
- Georgia State's home opener will be Feb. 20 against ranked Georgia. It will mark the first time the Bulldogs will play at the Heck Softball Complex since April. 27, 2005.
- After missing most last season to injury, Emily Soles looks to return to form in 2019. At the time of her injury, Soles was GSU's top arm. She was 5-2 with a 3.12 ERA.
- Skylar Mosel was named Second Team All-Sun Belt in 2018 after a strong freshman season at shortstop. Mosel hit .300 and was third on the team in both home runs (7) and RBI (25).
- GSU returns 13 players from the 2018 roster and welcomes 13 newcomers including 10 true freshmen.
- The Panthers will be without All-American Ivie Drake for the first time in four years as the reigning Sun Belt Player of the Year finished her collegiate career last May. Drake broke nearly every offensive record in the GSU history books.
- Roger Kincaid is in his ninth season as head coach of the Panthers and 11th season with the program. Kincaid's career record is 273-183 (.599) with a 112-69 (.619) mark in both the CAA and Sun Belt Conference.
- 2019 marks the second season in a row where the Panthers' entire roster calls Georgia home. All 26 players this season are from the Peach State. Gwinnett County leads the way with eight Panthers.
