Georgia State defeated Mercer (25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 25-20, 15-11) in a five set exhibition Friday afternoon at the GSU Sports Arena. The match marked the only tune-up for the Panthers before next week's regular season opener. All seventeen players saw action in the match.
After two weeks of preseason workouts, the Georgia State volleyball team will face the Mercer Bears in an exhibition match Friday. It will be the first and only tune-up for the Panthers before beginning regular season play. The match will be the first opportunity for fans to see the eight newcomers who will join the 2017 roster.
Coming off a record-setting year in the classroom, Georgia State earned additional hardware on Friday as five programs earned the Sun Belt Conference's Team GPA Award.
- Georgia State volleyball practiced Tuesday morning to kick off their 2017 preseason. The Panthers have 17 days to prepare for their first regular season test, August 25th, against Rutgers. The match will kick off the East Carolina Invitational, in which GSU will also face ECU and William and Mary.
Excelling on the court and in the classrooms, both the beach and court volleyball teams received the 2016-2017 American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award, making GSU one of only 13 schools to earn the honor for both sports.
Head coach Sally Polhamus announced the 2017 schedule for the Georgia State volleyball team Wednesday morning. GSU will play host 10 times inside the friendly confines of the Georgia State Sports Arena and entertain Wofford, Davidson, and South Carolina State for the GSU Invitational in mid-September.
ATLANTA – With 11 members of the Georgia State court volleyball team earning academic honors, the Panthers finished the spring semester with a 3.76 GPA, third-highest among all female sports this semester.

Georgia State court volleyball wraps up its spring season in the next two weeks with three upcoming matches. The Panthers travel to Clemson to face the Tigers this Sunday at noon. GSU returns home next weekend to host Georgia Tech and Clemson in the Sports Arena at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET.
