With the Aug. 30 season opener rapidly approaching, the Georgia State football team held its second scrimmage Saturday morning at Georgia State Stadium.
"We are continuing to get better, improving every day," Georgia State head coach Shawn Elliott said after Thursday's practice, two weeks ahead of the Panthers' season opener. "Right now, retention of assignments is critical for us in all three phases, and we're right on schedule, where we need to be."

It's Week 2 of preseason camp for the Georgia State Panthers as they continue preparations for their Aug. 30 season opener.
Georgia State opens the 2018 season on Thursday, Aug. 30, hosting Kennesaw State at 7 p.m. at Georgia State Stadium.
Preseason Practice Update: Offensive Line Builds Depth
Georgia State head coach Shawn Elliott loves to be on the football field, even if it's a practice in the pouring rain.
"First days are always fun and exciting," head coach Shawn Elliott said as he enters his second season at the helm. "You get to get out here and do what you haven't done in a long time as a whole group.
"It's kind of like Christmas for football coaches when you get ready to start practice in the fall – you know it's for real and it means something," head coach Shawn Elliott said.
