Mike Holmes rejoined the Georgia State Sports Communications staff in August 2008 as an assistant director. He was promoted to associate director in October 2010 before being promoted to his current role, Associate Athletic Director in July 2015. He currently oversees the day-to-day administration of the sports communications office and is the primary contact for men's basketball, men and women's golf, along with serving as the secondary contact for football. From 2008 to 2010 he primarily worked with baseball and volleyball.
He also oversees all aspects of photography and staffing for the sports communications office and serves as the tournament director for the AutoTrader Collegiate Classic hosted by the men's golf team each fall. Holmes serves as the executive producer for all ESPN3/ESPN+ and video streaming productions, along with the supervising producer for the Georgia State Sports Update, a weekly magazine show featuring GSU Athletics.
Holmes returned to Georgia State in 2008 after a five-year stint from 1998-2003. During that time he worked as a student assistant in the sports communications office while earning his bachelors from GSU. He then earned his Masters in Business Administration with a focus on entrepreneurship also from Georgia State while serving as a graduate assistant in the golf office for one year.
In between, Holmes spent two years at the Atlantic Sun Conference and then three years as the co-owner of a sports photography company in Jacksonville, Fla.
Holmes is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America, U.S. Basketball Writers Association and serves on the Peach of an Athlete Committee for the Boy Scouts of Metro Atlanta. His volunteer activities include multiple NCAA Final Four basketball tournaments, along with NCAA Men's Golf Regional and Championship tournaments.
He and his wife Monica reside in Marietta and have two young children, L.J. and Hannah.
