As the ambassadors to the city of Atlanta, the Georgia State Cheer and Dance teams have appeared in the motion picture "The Watch" starring Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn. They appeared in the television show, "Drop Dead Rivals." In the summer of 2013, the team appeared on "Fox Sports Race Day," live from the Atlanta Motor Speedway. In the summer of 2014, the team appeared on "America's Got Talent."

Many of our current and past cheerleaders have been members of the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) Staff and  the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Staff, as well as gone on to be selected to cheer for the Atlanta Hawks NBA cheer and dance teams, and the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders.

Pantherettes dance at all home football games, all home men's basketball games, and selected appearances and travel games.

The team consists of 10-12 members that appear at all home football games at Georgia State Stadium, selected away football games, all home basketball games, along with select volleyball and postseason play. The program looks to begin competing nationally in the near future. Throughout the year, all of our dance athletes will be asked to do numerous public appearances. At this time, there are no scholarship stipends available. Most expenses of being a part of the team are covered by fundraising events and GSU Athletics, including game day meals, all travel expenses, uniforms and other accessorries. Other perks of being a Pantherette are student-athlete status which includes the use of the Sports Medicine Department for injuries, work-outs by the strength & conditioning department, early class registration and academic assistance as well as required study hall hours.

The GSU Spirit program attended the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) and The Universal Dance Association (UDA) camp held at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City Tennessee this past weekend. While there, GSU, along with teams from Ball State University, Liberty University,  The University of Cincinnati, Morehead State, Western Kentucky, The University of Memphis, Appalachian State, Virginia Tech, Tennessee Tech, and The University of Kentucky,  participated in sessions that instructed the athletes on how to maximize crowd interaction and participation at athletic events. The teams also participated in the camp competitions. The cheerleaders received 3rd place in the sideline chant competition, and third place in the Time Out Routine competition. The Pantherettes receive first place in the routine that they brought to the camp from home, along with several superior ribbons. The entire program receive that “Game Plan Award” recognizing teams that are running the program in the right direction for today’s college athletic department needs. The teams are very excited to lead and perform on August 17th at our Fan Night, as well as the home opener on August 31st, both at the Georgia State Stadium.
