ATLANTA- Georgia State women’s tennis will be on the road this weekend for one last preseason tune-up before beginning the spring season. The Panthers will travel to SMU this weekend to take on a trio of opponents before opening up regular season play at Auburn on January 19th.
GSU will take on BYU and North Texas in addition to tournament host SMU in a three day hidden duel event. Friday’s lineup sees the Panthers take on BYU in doubles action and North Texas in singles. Saturday, GSU will battle SMU in doubles play and BYU in singles. The event will conclude with Georgia State facing North Texas in doubles and SMU in singles play on Sunday.
Georgia State will bring a full lineup of seven players to this weekend’s tournament in Dallas. Only four athletes competed in last week’s exhibition against UGA.
The trip will serve as a good measuring stick for the Panthers, who will face both SMU and North Texas in the regular season. Georgia State will visit the Mustangs on March 11th, and the Mean Green on March 15th as part of a four match Texas road trip that coincides with Spring Break.
The 2018 regular season officially gets underway Friday, January 19th when the Panthers visit Auburn. GSU will stay in Auburn for a double header the next afternoon with Oklahoma and Louisiana-Monroe.
