Charlie Taylor serves as the primary media contact for women's basketball, men's soccer, cross country, as well as indoor and outdoor track & field in his role as Assistant Athletics Director for Communications.
Taylor began his tenure at Georgia State in 2000 and works with all teams and administrative departments to provide publicity services. He supervises the football press box staff for home games in the Georgia Dome. Taylor has played a major role in Georgia State's website content and layout for more than a decade. He has previously served multiple years as men's basketball SID and radio color commentator with Dave Cohen. Taylor is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America and U.S. Basketball Writer's Association.
A former NFL head P.R. director, Taylor worked more than a decade each with the Washington Redskins (1976-87) and Atlanta Falcons (1987-1999). He has been employed by the NFL as an administrator on game days since 2000 and works as a communicator and instant replay representative, including working in the instant replay booth for the 2013 NFC Championship Game. Taylor has worked for more than a dozen staffs that ran media operations for the Super Bowl and Pro Bowl.
He has been working with the Atlanta sports media for more than 28 years in his roles with the Falcons and Panthers. Taylor has worked the men’s Final Four on three occasions and worked a pair of NCAA men’s regional basketball tournaments at the Georgia Dome.
Taylor was a Dean’s List student, editor of the school newspaper, Sigma Pi fraternity president and junior class president at Fairmont (W.Va.) State. He worked two years as Sports Information Director at his alma mater, aiding a program that won the NAIA football championship and advanced to the title game of the national basketball championship.
He is a second generation Navy veteran. Taylor and his wife of 34 years, Lynn, have an adult daughter, Lauren.
