Georgia State will play an 11-game non-conference basketball slate under new head coach Sharon Baldwin-Tener before heading into CAA action in January.

The Panthers will play 7 of those 11 non-conference games at home, including a pair of tournaments at Thanksgiving and the Christmas Holiday Break.

GSU will play host to an exhibition game at home on Wednesday, Nov. 3, against Division II West Georgia.

The regular season debuts on Friday, Nov. 12, just a few miles from campus, when the Panthers travel to face Georgia Tech in a 5 p.m. start at Alexander Memorial Coliseum. GSU then travels to Florida for games on Nov. 21 at Stetson and Nov. 23 at Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach.

This year's home opener in regular season will come with the Thanksgiving Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 27. GSU will play host to Alabama A&M at 2 p.m. and then Rice University will play Mercer in the second game at 4 p.m.  On Sunday, Nov. 28, those teams will play the 2 p.m. consolation game and the 4 p.m. championship game.

In December, the Panthers will welcome three teams to the Sports Arena in UAB (Thursday, Dec. 2), Western Carolina (Saturday, Dec. 11) and Jacksonville State (Thursday, Dec. 18).

GSU will travel to Thibodaux, La., for a Dec. 18 game at Nicholls State in the final non-league road game.

On Dec. 29-30, GSU will entertain a trio of teams in the 17th annual GSU Invitational Tournament. The Panthers will start with Mississippi Valley State on Wednesday, the 29th, while Troy University meets Hampton University in the second game. The afternoon consolation and championship games will be played on Thursday, Dec. 30.

GSU will then begin its 18-game Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) schedule on Jan. 2 and play regular season games through March 2. The CAA, who sent seven teams to post-season tournaments last year and is consistently ranked among the top 10 conferences in the nation, will host its tournament for the first time in Upper Marlboro, Md., a suburb of Washington, D.C.

Home CAA opponents (alphabetical order) include: Delaware, George Mason, Hofstra, James Madison, Northeastern, UNC Wilmington, Old Dominion, Towson and VCU.  GSU fans will see two of the top five scorers in the nation last year in All-Americans Elena Delle-Donne of Delaware and Dawn Evans of James Madison.

The Panthers of veteran coach Baldwin-Tener return seven letterwinners and have added a pair of junior college recruits and four freshmen to the roster. Top returnees Chan Harris (11 points per game, 6.2 rebounds) and Angelique Burtts (10.2 points and 4.6 rebounds) are back from last season's 15-15 team. Baldwin-Tener comes to GSU from eight successful seasons at East Carolina in Conference USA and was a award-winning coach at both Mercer University and Life University prior to that.

Season tickets for the 15-game home schedule are now on sale by calling 866-GASTATE or visiting the GSU ticket office in the Sports Arena.
