Berryhill Named to Academic All-America Team

ATLANTA--Georgia State track and field standout Yolanda Berryhill has been named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-America® Women's Track & Field/Cross Country third team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Berryhill becomes just the ninth Academic All-American in Georgia State history but the second this year, joining women's soccer player Bri Cagle to give the Panthers two honorees in the same academic year for the first time ever.

A senior from Leesburg, Ga., Berryhill was honored as the 2011 Colonial Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women's track and field.

She won conference titles in the discus and shot put and was honored as the CAA Most Valuable Performer in Field Events as she led the Panthers to their first CAA championship. In her career, Berryhill is a three-time CAA individual champion, a four-time All-CAA honoree and a three-time NCAA Regional qualifier. She holds the school records in the shot put, discus and hammer throw.

Berryhill sports a 3.74 GPA in exercise science.
