ATLANTA-Georgia State freshman hurdler Tamara Moore was named Colonial Athletic Association Women's Track & Field Rookie of the Year, and head coach Eric Campbell was honored as the CAA Coach of the Year, the league office announced.

Moore is GSU's fourth CAA Rookie of the Year in 2010-11, joining Jewel Evans (women's soccer), Abigail Tere-Apisah (women's tennis) and Kaitlyn Medlam (softball).

A native of Carrollton, Ga., who attended Central High, Moore won the CAA title in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.842. She was also a member of the Panthers' 4x100 relay squad that placed seventh at the conference meet as she helped GSU win the team title for the first time.

Moore qualified for the NCAA Regionals by shattering the school record with a time of 13.50 in the 100m hurdles at the Alice Coachman Invitational as she posted 28th fastest in the East Region.

She is Georgia State's second women's track and field Rookie of the Year in the past three seasons, joining 2009 honoree Brandy Swann.

VCU's Quina Fortune, who won three events at the CAA Championships, edged out GSU's Angelia Nugent for CAA Track Athlete of the Year.

In his ninth season on the GSU staff and third as head coach, Campbell led the women's track and field program to the first CAA title in school history. The Panthers scored a school-record 133 points and captured individual titles in seven different events. Six GSU athletes earned invitations to the NCAA Regionals, and junior Angelia Nugent advanced to the NCAA Championships in the triple jump.

Campbell, a first-time CAA Coach of the Year, is one of two GSU coaches to be recognized by the CAA this year, along with softball's Roger Kincaid.

Along with the CAA Coach and Rookie of the Year, the GSU program boasted the CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2011 in thrower Yolanda Berryhill, also a Capital One Academic All-America honoree and the Most Outstanding Performer in Field Events at the CAA Championships.
