For the Nov. 5 home football game, Georgia State is helping to "Conquer Kids' Cancer" with the St. Baldrick's Foundation.
Leading up to the game, GSU Athletics will allow fans to join the team of supporters in various ways. Special lime green wristbands for a $2 donation and buttons for a $1 donation are being sold as ways to show your support in the fight for a cure for childhood cancer. They are available now at the GSU Ticket Office at the front of the Sports Arena.
The wristbands and buttons will also be sold at volleyball matches on Oct. 28 and 30 in the GSU Sports Arena, as the men's home basketball exhibition on Oct. 31 as well as on the concourse at the home football game on Nov. 5.
In addition, the group football ticket discount rate will be donated to the charity with sales online (https://oss.ticketmaster.com/html/go.htmI?l=EN&t=georgiastate&o=1917773&g=173) with the code St Baldricks. Checks for the charity can be made out to the St. Baldrick's Foundation and dropped off as well.
Another option is to make a direct donation on their site, or even sign up to have your hair shaved off like the kids with cancer often have to. Visit that site at http://www.stbaldricks.org/events/GSUPanthers.
St. Baldrick's is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives. The Foundation funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. Government.
Several GSU football players are expected to shave their heads next week in support of the drive. Stay tuned for the details.
