Matthew Newhouse was named Georgia State's Assistant Director of Athletics for Marketing in June 2012.
Newhouse joined the GSU staff from GamePlan Financial Marketing, LLC, in Atlanta, where he served as Director of Field Marketing since 2010. He previously spent four years (2006-10) with the Florida State athletics program as Associate Director of Marketing and Promotions.
While at Florida State, Newhouse coordinated all marketing efforts for the Seminoles' nationally ranked men's basketball and baseball programs, as well as several Olympic sports, and also managed relationships with key corporate partners. Under his leadership, the school set attendance records in men's basketball, baseball, soccer and volleyball.
Newhouse also directed FSU's game experience for football, basketball and baseball, including music, video and promotions.
Newhouse earned his bachelor's degree in marketing management and his master's in sports science, both from Akron, where he served as a graduate and intern in athletics marketing.
He is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA). In 2014, he was named to the NACMA strategic communications committee.
