Gainesville, Fla. - Fresh off a Friday night season-opening win at UCF, Georgia State finishes the road trip Sunday with a 1 p.m. tip against the Florida Gators.
Listen live on WRAS-FM (88.5) as Wade Smith and Kelcey Roegiers-Jensen call all the action. Pre-game begins with Coach Baldwin-Tener's thoughts at 12:45 p.m.
Playing in the Swamp is no easy task against the Gators. UF opened with a 71-49 win Friday without the team's leading player. Florida has a 41-5 record against non SEC opponents and have posted back-to-back 20-win seasons. Last year, Florida advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
One of the leaders for the Gators in the opener was Syndey Moss, the athletic daughter of NFL star receiver Randy Moss. Moss just missed a "triple double" in the opener. Florida also utilizes their six-foot-seven center who scored 12 points and had four blocked shots in Friday's opener.
Georgia State led from start to finish in the win in Orlando over UCF. The Panthers jumped out to a 17-3 and the lead was never under double figures the rest of the way. The largest lead was 24 points in the second half.
GSU's defense was effective with 28 forced turnovers, 15 steals, 5 blocked shots and a pressure defense that held UCF to 29 percent shooting.
Junior guard Kendra Long led GSU in scoring Friday with 15 points as the Panthers had four players in double figures.
Following this two-game road trip, GSU returns to Atlanta Wednesday for the home opener at 7 p.m. against Jacksonville State.
