Ashlee Cole Honored As Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, VA. (Mon., Nov. 19) Georgia State freshman Ashlee Cole was recognized as the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week for the second week of the 2012-13 season.

Cole scored 11 points in GSU's home opening win over Jacksonville State last week, while also grabbing four rebounds and blocking a shot in just 18 minutes of action.  The 5-foot-8 guard hit 2-of-5 three-point shots and was made her only free throw attempt in netting her first double-figure game in college.

A three-time All-State honoree for the Forest Park High Panthers here in metro Atlanta, Cole scored almost 2,000 points during her prep career. She showed her shooting skills with 168 three-point baskets made in high school.

She had averaged 18 points a game as a senior with multiple games of 30 or more points. Cole was coached by her father, Steven, at Forest Park.

The 79-50 win last week raised Georgia State's record to 2-1 as the team prepares to host its annual Thanksgiving Tournament on Friday and Saturday at the GSU Sports Arena.
