The Georgia State women's golf team will begin their spring season in Sorrento, Fla., at the 18-team UCF Challenge on Sunday.

The tournament, hosted by the University of Central Florida, will run for three days beginning on Sunday. Eighteen holes will be played each day, with the final round concluding on Tuesday. The course is northwest from downtown Orlando.

"We're excited to kick off the spring season at a great course such as the RedTail Golf Club," coach Cathy Mant said. "Everything looks primed to go. The weather looks to be fantastic with temperatures around 80 degrees. 

"The girls have been working very hard in specific areas in their personal games. We are seeing improvements. I think the team is excited about playing and is ready to put a good a number on the board."

The field is made up of 18 teams. The Panthers will face off against Augusta State, Coastal Carolina, UCF, Texas State (Sun Belt), Louisville, North Carolina, Missouri, South Florida, East Carolina, Charleston, Kennesaw State, Oregon State, Tulane, Mississippi, South Carolina, Miami and Virginia. 

Junior Laura Sanchez will play at the No. 1 spot for the Panthers, while juniors Maria Palacios and Melissa Siviter will play in the No. 2 and 3 spots, respectively. Freshman Julie Lied will play in the No. 4 spot and senior Kimmy Graff, who returns to the lineup after missing the fall season with an injury, will round out the fifth spot.
