Augusta, Ga. – The Georgia State women's golf team moved into 13^th place after the second day of play at the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate in Augusta, Ga.

The Panthers finished the second day in 13^th place of the 18 team field, one spot better than their 14^th place on the first day. Georgia State finished the day with a 314 score, which was six strokes better than the first day.

“We played really well the first nine holes,” coach Cathy Mant said. “However, we gave a ton of those shots back on the back nine. I don't know if it's trying to make up for mistakes as we get to the end of the round, but some of it is our girls being mentally beat up and not fully committing to shots.

“The team is hitting the ball well and hitting the greens, we've just got to get it in the hole sooner. I'm proud of the effort, we've just got to get together mentally and continue to improve our short game. They need to learn to believe in themselves because they can do it.”

Junior Laura Sanchez continued to lead the Panthers with her two day total of 13-over (157). Sanchez is tied for 45^th after shooting a second round 80.

Freshman Julie Lied improved her second round score by four strokes after shooting a 5-over 77. She is tied for 51^st with a two-day total of 158.

Junior Melissa Siviter shot a second round 6-over 78 and and stands tied for 64th at 17-over. Siviter made an eagle on the par 4 third hole.

Junior Maria Palacios shot a second round 79 (+7) and stands tied for 73rd. Senior Kimmy Graff rounded out the Panthers with an 81 (+9) and is tied for 61st with one round to play.

The Panthers trail Maryland by just two strokes and Lamar by five to close in on the top 10.

No. 9 Vanderbilt continues to lead the field with a two day score of 583. Just three strokes behind the Commodores is No. 16 Purdue (586). No. 26 Notre Dame trails the Boilermakers by seven strokes (593), with host Augusta State (599), Coastal Carolina (604) and East Carolina (604) rounding out the top five.

No. 76 Natalie Willie, of Augusta State, leads the field after shooting an even par round and stands 2-under for the tournament. She is followed closely by Vanderbilt's Jenny Hahn (143) and Lauren Stratton (144). Notre Dame's Ashley Armstrong and Purdue's Kishi Sinha are tied for fifth with two day totals of 145.

The Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate will conclude Sunday with the final 18 holes. The Panthers will tee off Sunday morning in a shotgun at 9 a.m. and try to make a run at the top ten being paired with Southern Miss and Illinois. Live scoring will be available on GolfStat.com.
